Ongoing work and winter holiday (7-13 Feb)

Saturday, 6 February 2010 21:48:37 GMT

As I've been rather silent lately it's by time I let you know something about what's been going on "behind the curtains" and at the same time also announce that I will be away for some winter holiday the upcoming week between 7-13 Feb. Although I will leave the shop open there will be no deliveries during this time. I do this because it's simply impractical to close it and any downloads ordered will be dispatched on Saturday evening while CD's will be sent on next Monday (15th).

Astrocalc wish you a Happy New Year 2010

Thursday, 31 December 2009 12:48:48 GMT

The year 2009 is coming to an end, and it ends in a quite interesting way with a 13th Full Moon, a so called Blue Moon, and at the same time it also makes up an Eclipse! This is a thrill in itself, but the real thrill comes when looking at how it relates to the rest of the sky and not the least, how it relates to your personal chart and planets. But it doesn't stop there as it gets even more interesting when looking at how it relates to countries (yes, they have charts as well) and the world at whole!

An end of something is always also a beginning of something new and ...

Broken Links

Wednesday, 2 December 2009 10:08:45 GMT

While monitoring the logs I found out there were a few broken url paths, which may have made it difficult to login or prevented other functionality to work fully. This has now been fixed and hopefully all will work fine now.

But we will continue to monitor the logs to catch any abnormality and correct it as soon as possible.

Astrocalc is Trojan free software

Sunday, 9 August 2009 02:09:39 BST

It has come to my attention that some anti-virus scanners are flagging a Trojan for the Astrocalc executable file. This is a so called "false positive" 100% and I will explain why. However, first I want to say that I understand this may cause worries but I can assure there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of, please read inside for the full story.

Windows Update is your friend!

Sunday, 26 July 2009 11:03:21 BST

To run the latest and greatest version of Astrocalc you need to have installed the latest Windows Service Pack, current as of the Astrocalc Software release. Now why (you may ask)? Well there are many reasons but a top one is that a majority of the problems on Internet related to spreading of spam as well as viruses, worms etc. comes from the fact that many people neglect to update and secure their computers and of course are there "dark forces" that like to take advantage of this. Hence, Windows Update (WU) is in fact (almost) everybody's friend!  But there is more to it...

Status Update

Sunday, 12 July 2009 19:41:00 BST

Some info on the status of things... Currently new profiles are created for old customers of which we have a known email address, giving priority to those been in contact since new site was created back in Dec 2008. Please understand this is a manual and somewhat slow procedure but profiles are created constantly and emailed out. We had an email configuration problem earlier, resulting many emails got stuck in a queue and not delivered but as far as we know all should now have got a short reply informing about it and we do follow ups where necessary.

This post will be updated as status progresses
